And on the flip-side…
So Vance Worley actually harnessed his control and pitched a damn good ballgame, the type of damn good ballgame that made him an EL All-Star; 4 hits, 2 ER in 7 innings. And no walks, which is the most stunning thing. Anyway, Reading lost. Of course. 3-2.
But things of note: Steven Susdorf hit his first homer as an RPhil, a solo shot in the top of the ninth to pull the R-Phils within one. And Tuffy Goseweich made his return to the lineup, meaning we have a REAL ACTUAL CATCHER on the team. Hoorah.
Fortunately, Erie and Bowie loss so we remain in second, up a game on Erie, and up a game and a half on Bowie.
Flande starts in the finale tonight against Trenton; a night game, thankfully, since I’ll miss the Big Phils due to work. Which means DRABEK pitches tomorrow. I might be able to go. I get off work in time, have some free GA tix. It’s just a matter of Friday rush hour traffic to Reading. Buh-arf. I really really want to go since they’re back on the road after the B-Met series and don’t come back to the 25th, and tomorrow’s game will be the only one I can possibly make, because of my work sched. Grrrurh.
