:(Shit like this makes me mad. Because ONE FAN does not make the whole fan base.
See, but every Cubs fan I know is an asshole - hence me not having respect for their fans as a whole. I’m sure the true, diehard fans that come to the game to actually SEE a baseball game and root on their team, not get drunk and throw beer on players, are great. That’s the way it is with every team. But seeing as my exposure to Cubs fans has been that their assholes, which is why my view of Cubs fans is just that.
I realize that you don’t know me but I am a die hard Cubs fan. I go to games to WATCH the game. I don’t drink. I don’t heckle the other team’s fans. I don’t heckle the other team. And I’m not sure if anyone will vouch for me but I am certainly not an asshole. I respect the game and I don’t think it’s fair to be lumped in with other fans who don’t.
Which is why I said that I’m sure the people who are diehard fans are absolutely fine. I wasn’t trying to piss anyone off by saying what I said…I was just pissed because I think it’s wrong to throw anything at any player.
And honestly, I know exactly what it’s like to be lumped in with fans who are assholes, when I’m not. I’m from Philly, and our fans are considered to be the biggest assholes in pretty much every sport. It isn’t fair, but it’s something you have to deal with when you’re a fan. If you let it get to you every time, then you’re gonna be getting upset pretty much every day. Just know that you’re better than the kind of fans that throw things at people, or who don’t really care about the team.
Kerry, I hope you know that at least when I talk about Cubs fans that I’m not including you, or Geena, or anyone I know personally in anything. If I did think you guys were asshole fans, I wouldn’t be friends with you, the same way that one of my best friends is a Mets fan because she’s a good baseball fan, and that there are some Phillies “fans” I don’t talk to, and the reason I mill around at games sometimes to find somewhere else to stand, because they’re dbag fans.
Anyway, allmyloving, I stop trying to argue with people about Philly fans, you know? My biggest beef is when people bring up shit Eagles fans have done (Santa, Michael Irvin) and apply it to Phillies fans, which, there is a big difference but people can’t be assed to care because HAHA LOOK AT THE ASSHOLE PHILLY FANS I LEARNED EVERYTHING I NEED TO KNOW FROM ESPN. But that’s a different rant for another day.
Regardless of whose team has more douchey fans, you don’t dump beer on a player. Bottom line. Although over/under until I hear “HAHA UT PHILLY FANS ARE ASSHOLES” like that justifies it somehow.
To all the Cubs fans out there who are pissed at anti-Cubs posts right now: NOW YOU KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO BE A PHILLY SPORTS FAN. We get trashed every day by people from every other city and it shouldn’t reflect on all Philly fans. There was a murder at Citizens Bank Park a couple weeks ago. That doesn’t mean all Philly fans are murderers, but it still reflects badly on us. Deal with it.
